One of my favorite projects to date is a set of two putters for a Grandfather and his son. The first putter produced was a smooth roller with a maple baseplate inlay. The inlay was engraved with a werewolf holding a baby, along with the date of birth. The story goes that a friend of mine was purchasing this as a gift of the new baby, and when asked about things the father was interested in, he mentioned werewolves. So this putter came into existence as a fun reminder of the birth of baby Jack.
The second putter in this series was later commissioned for the grandfather and features a maple clover as well as the engraving "Pa's Lucky Putter". I love the fact that this family now has two putters to live on as heirlooms. I hope one day to make a third for baby Jack when he starts playing. The main body of these putters is made from Bolivian Rosewood, an excellent exotic wood for putters.
This family of putters has been one of my most produced models. It is a rectangular mallet with a very smooth finish and rounded rear corners. Temperature can affect wood dimensions so do NOT leave putters in a hot car
Must use a headcover, steel irons are harder than wood and will dent your putter
Dry putter after use in rain
